Space-race rocket blows up
To [info]j_otto: it seems that we are not the only ones having trouble getting our x-prize craft into space.

On that note, I've solved our combustion problem - I've killed two birds with one stone and used the caravan's gas bottle as an onboard source of fuel for the engine.  It seems to give a much 'cleaner' burn, and the hot-dog sausages don't have that nasty chemical-ly taste anymore when you stick 'em in the thruster flame on a fork pre-launch. The exhaust doesn't even scorch the tow-bar anymore!

I know you told me to wait until you'd sorted all the insurance stuff with our lawyer Harry (when is his release date, btw?), but bouyed by this success I just had to give the new craft her head of steam.

I've discovered another potential area of concern: steering.

At least this time I didn't need to call the fire brigade.

Bit of panel-beating and hammerite and I reckon this one's salvagable.

Harry is a little upset, but I've managed to convince my Dad to help with the repairs.

I've modified the next prototype to use ballast, which should be strong enough, but delivery speed might be issue.

The way I figure it we've got a few chances left.

Hey, great!

I popped by and the MKIII is looking great - the smaller gas bottle should help too.

I'm not sure about the new wings though.
